We are Alberta Laundry Systems.

Western Canada’s leader in commercial laundry.
Our family business has proudly served Canadians across Alberta, the Northwest Territories, western Saskatchewan & eastern British Columbia since 1980.

Our Story

Daryl Pospisil runs Alberta Laundry Systems by the same principles set down by his father, Roy, over 35 years ago: customer service, honesty, and integrity.

Roy Pospisil opened his first Laundromat in 1969. It was the very first laundromat in Calgary with more than 2 Wascomat triple loaders. His business grew to four laundromats with a total of 35 coin operated Wascomat triple loaders as well as over 150 top load washers.

Daryl’s introduction to the family business came at 14 years old, when Roy bought him a Honda 100 motorcycle and a tool box and sent him off on Saturdays and vacations to maintain his fleet of Wascomat machines.

When Roy had trouble getting parts to operate his laundromats, he decided to open his own supply firm. In 1980, he partnered Tony Wheeler to form Alberta Laundry Equipment. Daryl joined his father as a service technician for the new company. He was the first technician hired in Calgary, and his brother Harold ran the Edmonton branch.

The company initially supplied many brands, but soon decided to limit the brands represented. This allowed for a better stocked parts department, better trained service techs, and a closer relationship with the manufacturers. But when Wascomat started bringing in dryers from Europe, they made the easy decision to focus their representation to just one brand – Wascomat.

Wascomat is the North American brand name used by Electrolux, who have been manufacturing laundry equipment under several different brand names since 1902. When the US trade rights to the Electrolux name came home in 2004, from the vacuum cleaner division, Electrolux could use their global name in North America. Today, Electrolux trades in the US as both Wascomat and Electrolux. So while it may appear that we represent two brands, in fact, we represent just one: Electrolux & Wascomat.

In 2008, Daryl Pospisil bought out the last partner of Alberta Laundry Equipment and formed Alberta Laundry Systems Ltd, giving the old company a new name. Since then, the focus has grown to include On-Premises Laundry Equipment. And the staff has grown too, from one technician in 2008 to the six on staff today.

Our company has grown through many forms over the last 35 years, but those founding principles have stuck with us: customer service, honesty & integrity.

Our Values

Roy lived by several principles. He used to say, “when you buy equipment from us you also buy a little piece of us.”

We at Alberta Laundry Systems, continue to live by this guiding principle and his other words of wisdom.

It’s easy to sell equipment, but
hard to keep it running for twenty years.

Customer Service

We want the customer’s business
not a sale.

I want people to be proud
to work here.
